19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first professional title, took control to create a final set.

The opponent defended four early opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
