The artist has given the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the Music Venues Trust, which works to save the United Kingdom's grassroots live music spots.

Fender was given the award on mid-October as his third album his work was declared the best record of the previous year.

Fender has opted to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the essential function grassroots venues fulfilled in his beginning days.

"As an artist wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the performances I played around the area, and beyond, when I was starting out," stated Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these venues have ceased operations – approximately 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, top acts like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help independent venues.

He also participated, raising over £100k on his recent tour to support thirty-eight small stages across Britain.

These funds assisted venues that were confronting imminent closure due to challenges stemming from floods, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as permit problems, court cases and sound issues.

Other venues were granted monetary aid in upgrading facilities and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted artists and concertgoers.

"The notion that revenue from concerts in large arenas backs the independent spots, where it begins for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has commented.

He is among several artists to give his Mercury Prize prize money to worthy causes.

In the band earned the award in 1996 for their release Different Class, lead singer the singer stated that the group would give their winnings to the charity War Child.

In 2002, artist Ms Dynamite split her prize between several charities, including the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I gave a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed updated gear," the artist told the media.

Two years ago, the band contributed their winnings to the local youth club that developed their band, as well as other independent music bodies.

Also winners that year M People contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was diagnosed the illness.

"Winning was sufficient," stated singer the singer. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't require the extra, because we had the honor. So our winning impacted somebody else's life."

Last week, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had saved several small stages in that region, by transferring them to local control.

The Joiners in Southampton and The Croft in the city were purchased under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by a national body and supporters who purchase "stakes" in the buildings.
